Bordering By the Seashore

Hi everyone, today's card has been inspired by Less is More this week, which has a sketch challenge, that is "simplicity itself, so to add a little constraint, we ask that the card stays in this orientation ie that the band remains in the horizontal plane, in the lower part of the card and that it takes up no more than 1/3rd of the height of the cardbase".

 This is my card:

As my blog header would suggest I love the coast and the By the Seashore stamp set is one that really appeals to me. I first masked out the area and then stamped the sand dollar in Chocolate Chip, masked it and stamped the star fish.in More Mustard and then masked it before brayering the sand in More Mustard and the sea in Marina Mist. The effect on the sea was created by rolling the brayer on creased up paper. I added a few highlights on the sand using More Mustard and spritzed some Chocolate Chip to give the effect of pebbles. Here is a close up:

The sentiment is a sneak peak from the new Spring/Summer catalogue available from 1st February. The border has been scored top and bottom using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

I also designed a card using the popular  Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set available during Sale-a-bration, running between 22nd January to 22nd March 2013:

The humming bird is stamped in Midnight Muse, the flowers in Raspberry Ripple and the leaves in Gumball Green. The sentiment is also stamped in Midnight Muse. Here's a close up:

Here's what I used for these cards from Stampin' Up!

Stamps: By the  Seashore, Bloomin' Marvelous
Ink: More Mustard, Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green
Card: Whisper White
Other: Early Espresso Marker, Spritzer tool, Simply Scored Scoring Tool

See you soon
Angela
